Al Barari was presented with the Best Real Estate Project (Luxury Residential) award by His Excellency Sultan Butti bin Mejren, Director General of Dubai Land Department at the region’s first Gulf Real Estate Awards on April 17. Al Barari was honoured in front of nearly 300 real estate leaders at the largest, most prestigious, real estate gathering in the region.
“We are very proud of this achievement. What we have achieved came from the heart of passionate, perfectionist and loving people.” says Zaal Mohamed Zaal, Chairman of Al Barari.
Al Barari was up against the Gulf region’s finest real estate organisations, competing for a total of 21 awards. Over 100 entries were whittled down to a few dozen finalists, each of whom having to present their case in person to a panel of judges the day before the awards. The unique judging process not only ensured greater transparency, the open presentation sessions of the finalists also offered a rare insight into how the industry’s finest are achieving success and driving innovation.
Mark Hamill, Managing Director of Awards International UAE, says: “Having a fully transparent awards process is essential for all our events - knowing you’ve beaten the best on merit alone does wonders for individuals and companies. Along with their award, our winners take home huge amounts of credibility when you take into account the high volume and quality of entries we received.“
The multi award-winning pioneer in sustainable high-end luxury homes, Al Barari, today unveils one of its latest residential developments, The Nest. Available for purchase from March 1, 2017, the exquisite collection of 55 villas seamlessly combine first-class community living with the natural environment to offer a unique lifestyle, ideally suited to families.
Adjacent to Nad Al Sheba Nature Reserve, The Nest features a refined collection of four bedroom residences echoing contemporary sophistication. The Nest builds on Al Barari’s hugely successful Phase 11 including Seventh Heaven and Ashjar, which won the "Future Residential Project" award at Cityscape 2014. Seventh Heaven is now 75% complete while Ashjar has reached 70% completion. Al Barari’s Phase II has commenced and will see the creation of a resort hotel, medical and assisted living facilities, F&B and retail offerings and further residential development in addition to Seventh Heaven, Ashjar and The Nest.
“We now have a full spectrum of homes available, offering a choice from stylish apartments through to bespoke villas for families. Our spacious homes along with the unique lifestyle we offer; greenery, sustainability, luxury; is what makes Al Barari stand out from other developments in Dubai. We don’t promise to build the highest tower or biggest shopping mall but a place where you and your family can live happily. We are simply sharing our passion for life.” says Zaal Mohamed Zaal, Chairman of Al Barari.
Framed by abundant greenery and with sweeping vistas of Al Barari’s verdant landscape, The Nest is the epitome of elegance and style. Each home comprises an outdoor shower, barbeque area and sparkling swimming pool surrounded by landscaped lawns, blending indoor and outdoor living to form a seamless integration with nature.
The villas have been designed in harmony with the surrounding landscape and offer floor to ceiling windows to enhance the sense of space and let natural light flood in. The villas are available in two styles that offer subtle differences in layout and lifestyle. Each home enjoys natural light, high ceilings and a sophisticated contemporary aesthetic using a colour palette of cream, grey and white. A wall of glass maintains a connection to the garden, whilst the chic design creates a sense of intimacy.
The Nest is only a 15 minute drive to the comforts of Downtown Dubai. It extends the already established community at the Al Barari estate, which includes the state-of-the-art Body Language health club, destination signature spa Heart & Soul, and the unique concept restaurant The Farm.
Homes at The Nest will be released for sale on March 1 of 2017 with a four bedroom show home available for viewings. To book an appointment with the sales team or for further information, please contact sales@albarari.ae or call +971 4 388 6030.
Al Barari, Dubai’s exceptional botanic haven, has reached 65% completion of Seventh Heaven, the developer’s iconic residential building. Over 90% of the homes have been sold and 13 units, “The Signature collection”, were recently released into the market. The Signature collection is a limited selection of large one, two and three bedroom prestigious homes in Seventh Heaven. The Signature residences all have extensive terraces. The Signature embodies all that is expected of Al Barari, including high quality finishes, noticeably large living spaces, high ceilings and abundant natural light combined with contemporary design, expansive terraces adding to the sheer open space of each home. The Signature collection is undoubtedly amongst the most spacious in Dubai, with exclusive duplexes, villa-sized apartments and garden homes ranging from 1,700 to 3,400 square feet.
Set for completion in Q2 of 2017, construction of the 157 elegant homes began in September 2014. The development is visibly unique, overlooking either the iconic Dubai skyline across the Nad Al Sheba Nature Reserve, or the lakes, forest, and tranquil gardens of Al Barari. As part of Al Barari’s vision of creating a community lifestyle, Seventh Heaven will include two entire floors dedicated to retail and F&B outlets.
Martyn Crook, Al Barari’s CEO of Asset Management commented: “We are very pleased with the growth momentum of this project, and the remarkable interest that both Seventh Heaven and Ashjar have generated, despite analysts having predicted an overall slowing in the regional property market this year. Due to our unique proposition, we are in many ways isolated from the current market conditions and we are also witnessing a shifting trend with more and more of our buyers being end users, who are choosing Al Barari as their home, rather than investor-led sales. We are pioneers of a new way of living in Dubai, a city that is not readily know for it environmental credentials and lush greenery. Al Barari’s unique vision is coming to fruition, and we continuously strive to create for our customers a truly sustainable and eco-conscious desert oasis community.”
Al Barari’s Seventh Heaven prestigious residences have attracted a wide variety of buyers with varying demographics. The international community set to reside in the development hail from 30 countries, with buyers from across the GCC region as well as Europe, Asia and Africa. It is very much a cosmopolitan lifestyle destination.
Seventh Heaven’s architectural design features stepped layers, inspired by rugged mountains that provide the backdrop to the UAE coastline. Maintaining Al Barari’s endeavour to provide exclusivity to its residents, over 80% of the homes will have access to private elevators. Elevator waiting times are 50% lower than other developments. Additionally, international architects, 10 Design, have created a structure that ensures residents enjoy natural light, while capitalising on Al Barari’s existing microclimate where temperatures are 3-5 degrees cooler than other developments in the city.
Al Barari, a true desert oasis in the region, prides itself on unparalleled offerings from the residencies and signature restaurant to the destination spa and health club. This picturesque environment creates an unprecedented experience, led by a committed and knowledgeable team of people who truly embody the ethos of this green oasis. Al Barari is proud to introduce and highlight the team leading the lifestyle outlets every day, ensuring the community of Al Barari succeeds in its vision to be one of the most desirable, environmentally conscious developments in the UAE.

Al Barari, the leader in sustainably luxury homes in the UAE, exhibited for the first time at the highly-anticipated Cityscape Global 2015 held at the Dubai World Trade Centre from September 8-10th. The property developer’s unique green stand was designed by award-winning landscape designer Kamelia Bin Zaal who used plants from Al Barari’s nursery, Green Works, to bring the green elements of the development to the show.
Al Barari presented its phase 2 development updates of ongoing projects including Ashjar, Seventh Heaven and The Nest. Visitors were given the opportunity to truly experience Al Barari.
“Being part of the world’s largest real estate event was an excellent experience. The exhibition will allow us to further strengthen our position in the industry. We highlighted our developments Ashjar and The Reserve which are currently under construction to provide new visitors with comprehensive knowledge of our offering. We received plenty of inquiries and interested and had many meetings with potential buyers from the region and beyond. We look forward to exhibiting again next year,” said Martyn Crook, Sales & Marketing Director at Al Barari.
Kamelia Bin Zaal’s debut garden at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, Al Barari’s The Beauty of Islam, has been awarded a prestigious Silver Gilt Medal at the esteemed annual horticulture event.
The striking garden, created in honour of His Highness Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the late President of the UAE, has been designed to evoke the ancient Spice Routes of the Arabic empire, as well as taking its visitors on a contemporary, yet sensory journey through Islamic and Arabic culture. Kamelia Bin Zaal beautifully accomplishes this through the magnetic blend of poetry, scents, calligraphy and a bewitching mélange of plants that add an arresting atmosphere to the garden.
Kamelia Bin Zaal explains, “I am absolutely thrilled to have won a Silver Gilt medal, and so delighted to be sharing this great honour with everyone who has made this wonderful garden possible. Taking part in the RHS Chelsea Flower Show has been a truly memorable experience, and I am fortunate to know that I am returning to Dubai having made friends for life in so many of the people I have got to know along the way. I am delighted that I achieved my intention of making The Beauty of Islam a true celebration of heritage, art, design, culture and for all the plants to reflect the diversity of the UAE’s plant life. If I know that through the garden, I have inspired even just a handful of people with my culture, then I leave Chelsea a very happy person indeed.”
The award-winning luxury developer, Al Barari, today reveals its latest project, Ashjar 2 at Al Barari, a collection of 84 exclusive residences that offer the best of community and family living combined with world-class facilities. An extension of Ashjar, which launched last year, Ashjar 2 will feature one to three bedroom apartments ranging from 1,376sqft to 4,076sqft, with penthouse options available.
Ashjar, meaning “trees” in Arabic, is comprised of four low-rise, low-density buildings spread over an impressive 775,000 square feet, and is available in two distinctive categories, Introvert and Extrovert, allowing buyers to choose a home that suits their personality and taste. Ashjar 2 is the latest development from Al Barari, following the positive response and successful launch of the The Nest, in April 2015.
“This new launch is the result of detailed planning and research to target a wider audience. We want more people to enjoy Al Barari because ultimately it is distinct from other communities, not simply because of the high-quality homes, but because of the lifestyle it offers. With this in mind, we have introduced Ashjar 2. It answers the demand for affordable luxury living and is a continuation of our hugely successful second phase that launched last year,” commented Mr. Mohammed Zaal, CEO of Al Barari.
Blending indoor and outdoor living with nature, the homes are targeted towards small families and have been designed to offer a unique lifestyle and a genuine local community with access to the coveted estate’s facilities. Ashjar 2 will offer residents shared underground parking, an infinity-edge pool, a children’s play area and Al Barari’s famous landscaped gardens, in addition to being adjacent to Body Language health club.
Extrovert is set over six levels and features a stepped layered design that ensures abundant natural light with views of the tree-lined oasis. With great attention to aesthetic integrity, the elegant all white design creates a sense of space and an ultra-modern feel.
Introvert is six floors and features a more intimate design to offer the utmost privacy to residents. The terraces feature movable screens that can be arranged to create secluded personal retreats, complemented by picturesque views of the verdant landscape and beyond. It incorporates a greater degree of modern Arabesque design, however, the screen design is in keeping with the natural landscape.
Though the estate and its lush surroundings provide a sanctuary from the flurry of city life, it remains only a 15 minute drive to Downtown Dubai.
Homes at Ashjar 2 will be released for sale on 14 May, with a two-bedroom show home available for viewings. Ranging from one to three bedrooms, prices start at AED 2.2 million. To book an appointment with the sales team or for further information, please contact info@albarari.com or call +971 4 388 6030.
Garden designer Kamelia Bin Zaal is in the final stages of bringing Al Barari’s The Beauty of Islam to life ahead of the start of the RHS Chelsea Flower Show. The spectacular Show Garden, which will celebrate Islamic and Arabic culture through an atmospheric combination of poetry, scents and calligraphy, is now taking shape on this prestigious horticultural event’s Main Avenue.
The four remarkable Islamic archways, which will form passages through which the garden’s visitors will walk to the various areas of The Beauty of Islam, have been constructed and finished in their iridescent metallic bluish grey rendering. The subtle hues found in these archways, beautifully match the leathery Nannorrhops Arabica palm, a species native to the Arabian Peninsula, as well as the three Bismarkcia Nobilis, which are now in position.
Many other elements are underway. Running the length of The Beauty of Islam is a boundary olive hedge that features marble on which the words of the ‘Flock of Meanings’, the poem honouring His Highness Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, are carved. The eight-point star ‘khatims’, widely used in Islamic art to represent the seal of the prophets, have begun to be skilfully built beneath the planted citrus trees. Faux mother of pearl, yet another symbol of the heritage of the UAE, will be used in the outline of the khatims, as it will in the flooring of the water features.
Words from the Holy Qu’ran written in Islamic Thuluth calligraphy, originally painted by Emirati calligraphist Hamda Abdulla Al Hashmi, are carved on a white marble water wall that sits looking out at the rest of the garden. Above this waterfall is the cantilevered stainless steel domed shade structure featuring the traditional Arabic Mashrabiya pattern.
As preparations come to a close, and Kamelia Bin Zaal and her team anticipate the start of the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, they will see to the planting of the most delicate plants as their very last task. Until then, the countless methods with which Kamelia Bin Zaal has sought to celebrate Islamic and Arabic culture through The Beauty of Islam are coming to life.
Kamelia Bin Zaal explains, “The Beauty of Islam began as an idea and it swiftly moved on to becoming a concept and then a design. Today, with the help of my fantastic, ever-dependable team, the garden is becoming a reality and none of us can believe that we are just days away from proudly being part of the most important event of the annual horticultural calendar. I personally cannot wait to share this beautiful, serene, sensory garden with the rest of the world.”
Coffee and cardamom will be some of the plants ensconced within Al Barari’s The Beauty of Islam, the RHS Chelsea Flower Show garden created in honour of His Highness Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the late President of the UAE. Through the use of horticulture, poetry, scents and calligraphy, its designer, Kamelia Bin Zaal of Al Barari, Dubai, will take the garden’s visitors on a contemporary, atmospheric voyage through Islamic and Arabic culture.
“The gates of the Garden of Eden will open up to them,” are the words from the Holy Qu’ran, Surah Sad: Verse 50, carved into the white marble water wall that majestically overlooks the garden. The text is seen in traditional Islamic Thuluth calligraphy, originally painted by Emirati calligraphist Hamda Abdulla Al Hashmi. The focal point of Al Barari’s The Beauty of Islam is a magnificent stainless steel sculpture that sits in the water feature and reads, ‘Allah’.
Faux mother of pearl, which symbolises the heritage of the UAE and the use of
this precious material across Arab countries, will appear in water features and in the details of the eight-point star structures called ‘khatims’ in Islam. The khatim is widely used in Islamic art and represents the seal of the prophets.
The ‘Flock of Meanings’ poem, carved onto marble that is set against an olive hedge, runs the length of The Beauty of Islam. The poem penned by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, honours His Highness Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan. Its inclusion pays homage to the important role poetry plays in the UAE.
The ancient Spice Route of the Arabic empire is evoked through the melange of scents and colours. Fig and Pomegranate trees punctuate with bewitching intensity, while a haze of scents emanating from the ginger, rosemary and cardamom plants, represent the rich diversity of horticulture bin Zaal has chosen for her debut. Also featured is the blue-silver, leathery Nannorrhops Arabica palm, a species native to the Arabian Peninsula. It is revealed today that bin Zaal’s surprise specimen, which will be found throughout the garden, is the Bismarckia nobilis palm.
A cantilevered stainless steel domed shade structure featuring a traditional Arabic Mashrabiya pattern, represents the play on shade and light conventionally found in Islamic gardens, known characteristically as serene places of refuge. Four striking Islamic archways rendered in metallic grey, form the passages through which visitors will be transported to each area of this multi-layered oasis. Flowing water will combine the bespoke areas of The Beauty of Islam in a gentle movement playing on sound and light.
“This garden tells the story of the spread of Islam and the growth of the Arab empire through trade over the centuries,” explains Kamelia, who is the first ever female Arab landscape designer to be participating at the Chelsea Flower Show. “The Beauty of Islam uses edible plants, fruiting trees, herbs, water and art to connect humankind with the Earth. The desert landscape of my country is a place of extraordinary, wild beauty and I am very proud to be from the UAE. His Highness Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan’s advocacy for the protection of our environment has been my greatest inspiration. This garden is to honour his memory and legacy.”
Kamelia bin Zaal is the Creative Director of Al Barari, a sustainable luxury development in the UAE renowned for its beautiful gardens with 80% of the land dedicated to landscape, while the villas combine Islamic and contemporary architecture. The residential estate owned and developed by her family marks a true celebration of plant diversity and heritage in the United Arab Emirates. In the same way The Beauty of Islam show garden also reflects the concept of sustainability, Arab culture and Islam. Al Barari’s sponsorship of the garden this year is in honour of His Highness Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan’s legacy of greening the UAE and to continue his relationship with the most prestigious flower show in the world, the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.

The Nest builds on Al Barari’s hugely successful second phase residential project Seventh Heaven, which sold out within 48 hours and Ashjar, which won the "Future Residential Project" award at Cityscape 2014.
“The Nest is the last piece of the residential puzzle at Al Barari, making it a viable investment and place to live. The Nest bridges the gap between our different properties, offering well-appointed, more affordable lush living for families. The villas have been designed in harmony with the surrounding landscapes and offer floor to ceiling windows to enhance the sense of space and let natural light flood in.
A secluded sanctuary surrounded by beautiful foliage, The Nest is still only a 10 minute drive to the comforts of Downtown Dubai. It extends the already established community at the Al Barari estate, which includes the state-of-the-art Body Language health club, destination signature spa Heart & Soul, and the unique concept restaurant, The Farm. In addition, children’s play areas, unique themed gardens and a community centre will be launched at The Nest after completion.

First timer at the 2015 RHS Chelsea Flower Show, Creative Director Kamelia Bin Zaal will showcase her garden design in May in London, United Kingdom, at the world’s most renowned gardening event. As a result of her passion for greenery, numerous projects, and a diploma in garden design at London's renowned Inchbald School of Design, Emirati landscape designer Kamelia has been selected to partake at the celebrated flower show.
“I am so proud and honoured to exhibit at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show,” says Kamelia Zaal. “The theme of my garden is The Beauty of Islam. I am continuously inspired by our heritage and wanted to creatively translate my interpretation of our peaceful religion into a beautiful garden design. Most importantly, it’s an opportunity to shine a positive light on Arab culture and Islam. Traditional Islamic gardens were a representation of the relationship between humankind and the earth, not only through the gardens productivity, but also through the use of the senses and in its beauty. Creating space of multiple uses but yet still a place of calm and reflection.”
The Al Barari sponsored garden is based on a traditional Islamic pattern set into a 45-degree angle that breaks away from the traditional courtyard quadrant. The design uses both modern and classic materials originating from countries touched by Arab culture and Islam.
Kamelia has incorporated poetry through the use of “The Flock of Meanings” poem by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum for His Highness Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, which will be engraved into stone. Calligraphy sculpture and the movement and sound of water which are used to guide the senses through the garden to a final resting place to contemplate and relax.
The variety in plant species is indicative of the spread of Islam as well as the growth of the Arab empire through trade – most famously through the spice route which spread, by sea and over land from the Indian Ocean, Far East, India, the Arabian Gulf, and Red sea and by land onto Europe.
Zaal is working with multi-award winning landscape construction and design company The Outdoor Room and renowned plant nursery Kelways for the show.
Kamelia began her career as a freelance garden designer working on residential villas until she established her own landscape architectural practice, Second Nature in 2006. She later formed an association with her family's prestigious property development company, Al Barari, where Second Nature, now part of Green Works, created the lush botanic surrounds and themed gardens that the address has become recognised for.
In 2013, Kamelia was featured on the front cover of The UK Garden Design Journal for her work with Al Barari and several other projects. Her work has been included in the Garden Design Up Close book by Emma Reuss featuring the Al Barari Contemporary Garden. She is regularly cited as an expert in the GCC garden landscape industry, having been featured in Inside Out, the Garden and Landscape Designers Association magazine Compass and Landscape Middle East.

“On behalf of Al Barari, I would like to thank Cityscape for this great honor. With its support, we are proud to have established ourselves as a multi-award winning property developer tantamount to reputable developers around the world. The accolade for “Future Residential Project” highlights our passion for a luxurious lifestyle combined with our strength in creating lush communities, and our vision of blending extraordinary living with nature. It is a reflection of the incredible teamwork at Al Barari and 10 Design, who have dedicated immense effort and countless hours to make the Zaal family vision a reality,” says Dereck Hoogenkamp.
“This is our first project under construction in Dubai and we are honoured to collaborate with Al Barari on such a prestigious sustainable development," adds Chris Jones.
Over the last nine years, Al Barari has transformed into a destination and with Dubai coming of age, the demand for high-quality developments surrounded by greenery has risen exponentially. It has been a year of growth and expansion for the company – Phase 1 is complete and there is 100% occupancy in the Al Barari villas. Phase 2 has been incredibly successful with the launch of Seventh Heaven residences, which sold out in just 48 hours, and the latest development Ashjar which fuses nature with extraordinary living. Phase two has commenced, with several projects underway and several developments planned for the future.
As the real estate sector witnesses continued demand from investors, an increased number of new project launches have been announced. A common theme across these projects is a large emphasis on sustainability and energy saving features, in line with the recent decision of the Dubai Government to extend its green building codes to all new real estate projects.
Dereck Hoogenkamp, Sales and Marketing Director of Al Barari, the pioneering luxury development in Dubai, Al Barari, says, “The UAE is heading towards becoming one of the top countries in the global rankings for “green” building spaces. As property developers, we too are increasingly finding our investors and home owners are looking for greater sustainability and responsibility to eco-conscience when considering property.”
Al Barari is committed to responsible sustainability embracing good environmental practices in all elements of infrastructure, architecture and landscaping. Each residence supports its own energy-efficient home system and residents recycle domestic waste through the underground waste system that separates organic from non-organic waste, while being invisible and odorless. All the water that is used for the irrigation of the landscape and the waterways is also recycled water that is then cleaned and polished at the on-site polishing plant.
Hoogenkamp continues, “We are now witnessing property owners paying more attention to environmental concerns and the need for eco-friendly homes. Eco-friendly features can also add value and such features can increase monetary value to a residence.”
Dereck Hoogenkamp provides his top five tips on what to look for when considering an ‘eco-friendly’ more sustainable property or home:
Nestled in picturesque surroundings, the award-winning restaurant The Farm adds new dishes and unique combinations to its menu. The chef has embraced seasonal ingredients such as truffle oil, premium Yellowfin tuna, King scallops and dragon fruit to create over 20 new dishes, which will feature on the breakfast, lunch and dinner menus.
“As the availability of new items is constantly growing in this region, fresher seasonal items are readily available giving us greater inspiration and boosting our creativity. We always like to showcase new specialties and this season there is a Mediterranean feel to the menu,” says Chef Yves, Head Chef at The Farm.
The restaurant is staying true to its healthy eating ethos by only sourcing ingredients from reputable suppliers who can guarantee traceability, meaning the supplier must be able to identify the farmer who supplied each ingredient.
The new dishes have been carefully crafted to appeal to all tastes and dietary requirements – from Gluten-free Almond Pancakes, North African Shashouka and Tuna Tartare to Salmon with Bok Choy and Mash, and Reef & Beef (The Farm’s twist on the classic Surf and Turf). For a sweet treat guests indulge in a decadent selection of desserts including the Brownie with Salted Caramel, Orange Tart or Soy Milk Crème Caramel.
The talented team at The Farm will continue their innovative approach, sourcing the freshest ingredients to add to the menu. Further additions have been planned to introduce items such as white truffles from Alba, Italy, heirloom tomatoes from Australia and blood oranges from Spain. Soon tapas-style dishes, locally produced charcuterie and fresh cheeses will be introduced for families and friends to share.

The pioneering luxury development in Dubai, Al Barari, today reveals bold plans for its latest project, Ashjar at Al Barari, a collection of spacious residences that integrates its unique vision of high-end living in harmony with the natural environment to creative new lengths.
Ashjar, meaning “trees” in Arabic, is comprised of 300 apartments arranged in low-density collections, designed around luxuriant landscaped gardens that offer both peaceful surroundings and natural screens to ensure privacy. It is a continuation of the development’s hugely successful second phase that launched earlier this year, Seventh Heaven at Al Barari, a series of residences that was 95 percent sold out in just two days.
“Since its inception, Al Barari has always been different from all other developments in Dubai and Ashjar exemplifies this. It is the result of all our learnings from previous chapters and I am very proud of this next phase,” commented Mr. Mohammed Zaal, CEO of Al Barari.
The apartments, which go on sale from 26 April, are available in three styles that offer differing architectural features and subtle differences in lifestyle.
At six levels, Category A presents the iconic “stepped-out” design incorporating spacious terraces characterised by Seventh Heaven. Category B incorporates a greater degree of Arabesque design, offering greater intimacy and privacy throughout its five levels. Category C is a hybrid of the two other formats, blending their architectural features and design, also over five floors. From ground level to the third floor, buyers can opt for residences that seamlessly blend the built environment into the surrounding green landscape, with floors four and five offering vistas across the city including the landmark Burj Khalifa tower.
The three formats are united by their emphasis on the sophisticated design and bolstered by strong environmental credentials. But that is not all. Each collection will benefit from shared
sporting and social facilities including pools, play areas, gardens and underground parking which together offer residents a unique lifestyle and a genuine local community.
Commitment to its residents is at the core of Al Barari. Its ethos is to offer freedom from the stresses and strains of daily life and there is little doubt it is succeeding in its ambitious goals. Its achievements are the product of detailed planning and research. Its recent sales success of Seventh Heaven is also a further sign of surging confidence in Dubai’s property market, which has seen strong but sustainable growth over the last two years.
Homes at Ashjar will be released for sale on 26 April, with a two-bedroom show home available for viewings. Ranging from one to three bedrooms, prices start at AED 3.3 million for a residence totaling 1,700 square feet.

Connecting the indoor with outdoor living lies at the heart of Seventh Heaven at Al Barari, a new collection of opulent homes featuring one to four bedroom, sky villas, penthouses, duplexes and garden homes. Seventh Heaven launches the second phase of Dubai’s most coveted estate and homes will be available for purchase from 2 February.
“Seventh Heaven is a continuation of the Al Barari vision to create a community set in the natural environment. The design of each home has been carefully constructed so that you are always visually connected to the landscape, whether it be at garden or tree line level,” commented Mr. Mohammed Zaal, CEO of Al Barari.
The collection will total 157 elegant homes, including exclusive duplexes, penthouses, sky villas and garden homes, which will have a private pool located on the terrace and access to beautifully manicured gardens if located on the ground floor. Standard homes will range from one to three bedrooms starting from 2,000sqft up to 3,850sqft and exclusive homes will vary from one to four bedrooms starting from 2,970sqft up to 6,600sqft, making the Seventh Heaven among the most spacious homes available in Dubai.
The architectural design of Seventh Heaven features stepped layers and trims down as it increases in height, taking inspiration from the rugged mountains that dot the country’s coastline. The distinctive design, created by international architects 10 Design, allows increased airflow across the development, capitalising on Al Barari’s existing microclimate to ensure the continuation of temperatures 2-5 degrees cooler than other developments in Dubai.
Additionally, the architects cleverly designed structural shading to ensure that the homes can enjoy natural light without being fully exposed to the sun most times of the day. Furthermore, the thermal mass of the building helps moderate temperatures throughout the day.
Each home will have two to three aspects, overlooking the iconic Dubai skyline, desert wilderness or tranquil gardens of Al Barari, yet still maintain the upmost privacy of the residents. Natural light will illuminate the homes via floor to ceiling glass windows, which can be opened up to extend living space onto the terrace. The flow of natural light into the interior is part of the energy efficient design, which will reduce the need for artificial light.
A natural colour palette and materials such as stone and wood help to integrate Seventh Heaven into its surrounding environment and build the intimate relationship between residents and nature. This theme runs through the shared amenities, in particular the lobby, which features vertical planting, marrying the public areas with the surrounding gardens. Other shared facilities include indoor and outdoor pools, gym and community facilities.
Seventh Heaven is secluded enough to transport residents to a botanical retreat, yet only a ten minute drive to the comforts of Downtown Dubai. It extends the established community at the Al Barari estate, which includes the award-winning Al Barari residences and The Reserve villas as well as Body Language, their signature health and fitness centre, and garden enveloped eatery, The Farm.
Further plans for the Seventh Heaven development include a six-star resort, retail village where daily shopping is done at a floating market, lively bars and dining venues and a creative hub where fashion couturiers, art studios and design labs are nestled, championing the entrepreneurial spirit that Al Barari was founded on.
One bedroom standard homes start from AED 3,000,000, making the lifestyle associated with Dubai’s most desired address more accessible to discerning buyers, who understand that quality of life is paramount.
A standard two-bedroom home is now open for viewing, to book an appointment with the sales team or for any enquiries please contact info@albarari.com or +971 4 388 60 30 or visit www.seventh-heaven.ae to register for more information.
Ushering in a new way of living, The Reserve at Al Barari is an exceptional new collection of high-end bespoke villas at the coveted Al Barari estate. Since announcing the concept last May, the vision has now come to fruition with the first show home complete and 14 villas ready to handover as 'shell and core', and a further 14 in development.
Luxury is not a number, it is a lifestyle. It is not about being the biggest or the brightest or the first, it is about the subtle details that differentiate the ordinary from the extraordinary. The Reserve at Al Barari is unmatched in quality and is the realisation of a vision that started as our family's personal journey to create a living space that fulfilled our own requirements and definition of luxury, commented, Mr. Mohammed Zaal, CEO of Al Barari.
As Dubai realises its potential as a truly international centre of financial and cultural significance, The Reserve at Al Barari answers the demand from discerning international buyers who no longer view the city as temporary or transient.
Newcomers, as well as long-term residents, seek a more considered, pared-back and understated luxury, focused on the details that define quality of life; enhanced living space, integration with the natural environment and a home finished to their own tastes.
Covering 14.2 million sq. ft. with over 80% of its area exclusively set aside to nature, Al Barari is considered to be the lowest density urban area in the UAE. Extending the established community at the Al Barari estate, The Reserve at Al Barari will offer more than just an address. Verdant public gardens facilitate a sense of security and kinship between neighbors unparalleled in Dubai, and suggest the changing priorities and evolving tastes of the city's affluent buyers.
Located in the royal enclave of Nad Al Sheba, accessible by the Emirates Road, The Reserve is a secluded sanctuary. Despite feeling a world away from the sometimes all too garish glitz of the city, Downtown Dubai is just 10 minutes drive away and the iconic Dubai skyline forms the impressive rooftop terrace views.
Designed and constructed by local contractors, Sustainable Builders, with interiors options from Lesley Zaal of Etcetera Living, The Reserve strikes the balance of convenience with customization. A choice of four villa styles delivered in shell and core, negates the need to project manage the building aspect, but still allows buyers to finish their homes according to personal tastes.
The four styles include Amber, Onyx, Emerald and Topaz. Each of the intuitively thought out villas showcase the best of contemporary and traditional design, maximising light and space, fused with nature. Buyers can customise their homes under the expert direction of Sustainable Builders, with Etcetera Living and Greenworks available to collaborate on interiors and landscaping concepts.
Plot sizes range from 25,000 sq.ft up to a generous 75,000 sq.ft and have a market value starting from 20 million AED. Each villa has a minimum floor area for six spacious bedrooms, all with en suites and walk in wardrobes, study with en suite, formal and family living areas, two fully equipped kitchens, basement, roof terraces, garage space for four cars and separate self-contained living quarters for staff.
Six themed gardens connected by common parklands and meandering streams are an integral lifestyle element of Al Barari, forming tranquil areas of rest and inspiration. The Al Barari Plant Nursery, which occupies a space of 1.2 million sq.ft, ensures the sustainability of each of the gardens and landscape areas within this lush, botanic paradise. The vast resources and expertise of The Nursery are available to residents via wide range of landscaping, maintenance and design services.
Set within the heart of the blossoming gardens is The Farm, an innovative dining concept dedicated to serving fresh, locally sourced produce through a varied and imaginative menu that echoes The Farms natural surroundings. The relaxed ambience of the green backdrop makes for a peaceful dining experience and a sense of harmony between the environment and cuisine.
Residents can benefit from facilities including a large communal pool, fully equipped gym and fitness centre with sauna and steam room and two tennis courts. Further developments for the Al Barari community include a spa, health club, signature retail outlets and a boutique hotel.

Al Barari, a unique and ground-breaking eco-friendly residential community in Dubai, welcomed a delegation of eight officials from Dubai Municipality today.
Led by Al Barari Chairman Mr. Zaal Mohammed Zaal, the team received Eng. Najeeb Mohammed Saleh, Head of the Department of Planning at Dubai Municipality, and introduced him to a variety of sustainable initiatives that form part of the Zaal family vision to create one of the most desirable developments in the UAE with a strong environmental conscience.
Mr. Zaal also shared future plans to expand Al Barari including the launch of a six star boutique hotel, public botanical gardens, lifestyle apartments and a spa.
The tour included a visit to Greenworks, one of the largest plant nurseries in the region and lunch at The Farm, a unique concept restaurant located at Al Barari.
A commitment to sustainability and responsible eco-conscience development means that Al Barari's architecture, landscaping and infrastructure actively embrace good environmental practice.
Al Barari, the luxury eco-conscious property development situated in Nad Al Sheba, launched its new real estate offering, The Reserve, to market this week. The Reserve comprises 33 high-end bespoke villas, revealed by the Zaal Group of Companies to service the ever-growing global property market trend of home customization.
Nestled within the US$3.2 billion Al Barari estate, The Reserve villas were designed and constructed by local contractors, Sustainable Builders. The villas have a market value ranging from 20-35 million AED and can be purchased on plot sizes up to 75,000 square feet. Four different villa styles will be delivered core and shell, allowing buyers the opportunity to express individuality in choosing and fully customizing the interior layout and exterior landscaping of their property.
Al Barari CEO, Mr. Mohammed Zaal commented "Investors in this region and internationally are already aware of The Zaal Group of Companies and our track record of delivering real estate projects on schedule and as per the original plans. Al Barari's phase one is complete, with 189 palatial villas built and 95 per cent of them handed over to their owners."
He continued: "What buyers will find attractive about The Reserve is both the location, situated in the heart of Al Barari's 14.2 million square feet of natural green space and gardens, and of course the customization aspect. Essentially The Reserve offers a buyer the opportunity to create their dream home, without having to project manage the actual building aspect of such an endeavor. Buyers have the freedom to decide upon the layout of the interior and exterior of their home, through to the fixtures, fittings and wallpapers."
The 'core and shell' concept of offering buyers the opportunity to personalize their own home is relatively new to the region. The Reserve will offer yet another dimension to the luxury and environmentally conscious Al Barari estate, and is on target to add considerable value to the development as a whole.
Mr. Zaal said: "With Al Barari's restaurant 'The Farm' already complete and successfully open to residents and the public, and our future plans for the day spa, health club and a six star hotel, the value of Al Barari property is only going to rise."
A team of staff from Greenworks, one of the region's largest plant nurseries located at eco-friendly development Al Barari, hosted children from the SAFE CENTER for Autism and Asperger's Syndrome today, as part of its efforts to support the local community.
The team at Greenworks took part in planting and sowing seeds with the children from the SAFE CENTER, which helps rehabilitate and integrate the children of the UAE in their community.
Kamelia Zaal, Creative landscape Director at Al Barari said, "Autism is among the most prevalent and serious diseases in the UAE, and we are proud to lend our support and put a smile on the faces of these children today. An autistic child's family faces a long and arduous challenge, and it is essential that we all hold ourselves responsible to help raise awareness and support families in the UAE who are affected by autism."
Studies show that 1 in 110 children is affected by autism, and with over 1 in every 88 children born with autism in the UAE, Al Barari is committed to raising awareness for this important cause in the Emirate.
Al Barari, a unique and ground-breaking eco-friendly development in Dubai, is proud to announce the launch of Greenworks, one of the region's largest plant nursery offering a full range landscaping services including landscape design, construction and maintenance and plant supplies as part of the retail offering. Located in the heart of the 14.2 million square foot Al Barari development in the royal enclave of Nad Al Sheba, Greenworks is now being launched to market after successfully providing their landscaping services to Al Barari, making it the lowest density development in the UAE and more akin to a botanical garden than a residential community.
The plant nursery was the first project of Al Barari Chairman Mr Zaal Mohammed Zaal in 1997, which stemmed from his fervent devotion to nature and plants and the Zaal family's longstanding passion for the environment. The first plant was imported in 2002-2003, and by 2009 the plant nursery had grown to the extent that it boasted an extensive collection of plant species grown on site. The nursery's success and impressive growth as a core pillar of the Al Barari development inspired the group to take the concept to market this year.
Greenworks will offer a full range of landscaping services to both B2C and B2B customers, from the sale of plants and trees, to landscape design, construction and maintenance, as well as seasonal services for both indoor and outdoor plants. The maintenance and after-sales assistance is also a core part of the Greenworks offering. Whether dealing with individual consumers or large groups, the Greenworks team – led by passionate horticulturalist, general manager Henry Raven - is dedicated to providing customers with the highest quality of care and services.
Al Barari Creative Director, Kamelia Zaal said "Greenworks is the result of the Zaal family's longstanding passion for the environment, which has translated into the creation of this unique plant cultivation space that lies at the heart of Al Barari. For almost ten years, Greenworks has exclusively serviced Al Barari, carefully nurturing the lush greenery that makes up 80 per cent of this unique eco-conscious development. Now, we are proud to launch Greenworks to both consumers and business customers so that individuals, groups and corporations can enjoy our comprehensive variety of landscaping services and share in our passion for nature, plants and environmental sustainability."
Henry Raven, Greenworks general manager added "I am personally very excited to take Greenworks to market and we are very eager to display our plants and share our knowledge and expertise with consumers in the UAE and the region. Each plant in Greenworks is diligently tended to by our team of 60 experts who secure the adequate temperature, wind and soil consistency for every leaf on the premises. Greenworks is different from anything else currently on offer in the UAE, and we look forward to welcoming customers through our doors when we open this month."
The luxury eco-conscious residential development, Al Barari, located in the royal enclave of Nad Al Sheba, announces the launch of its unique concept restaurant, 'The Farm'. Set in the heart of the 14.2 million square foot estate's naturally lush surrounds, The Farm champions fresh, locally sourced produce for its carefully considered menus and will establish itself as a hub for UAE residents to enjoy a variety of social and entertainment activities.
The Farm's philosophy is 'to serve great quality, wholesome food the way nature intended, in a relaxed and tranquil setting'. This ethos clearly shows in every facet of the restaurant, depicting a measured balance of eco-consciousness, superior quality and the contemporary, and always with the customers' enjoyment in mind. Combined, these principles have helped to create one of the most unique culinary experiences in the Middle East.
Inspired by the Zaal family vision to make Al Barari more than a residential community, The Farm opens up the development to a wider audience by creating a haven of taste and leisure and developing a fresh approach to the act of dining. The restaurant, which can seat up to 80 people in the tranquil ambiance of its interior, is surrounded by green lawns and natural gardens and also offers customers the opportunity to dine outdoors on the deck, suspended over the lake.
The Farm selects only the finest ingredients in the preparation of its food, most of which are locally grown and organic. Customers can explore the culture of food through interactive and educational menus, allowing them the novel opportunity to choose their ingredients and discover the heritage of the dishes they order. The on-site bakery will produce a delightful array of freshly baked breads and pastries daily and a selection of essential organic groceries and local produce will also be available for The Farm's customers to purchase.
The flexible menu caters to all types of dietary requirements including vegan, raw food, vegetarian, low carbohydrate and options for children, without ever negotiating on imagination and taste. Yves de Lafontaine, The Farm's Head Chef, said: "Our concept menu has been specially created with the UAE's diverse audience in mind, with items for all tastes and dietary requirements."
Much more than a restaurant, The Farm will offer an itinerary of activities for its customers to participate in, including yoga and cookery classes, adding yet another exciting dimension to the visitor experience. "We want to create a hub where food, entertainment and education merge, all in an eco-friendly setting where people can enjoy themselves in this peaceful getaway and where children can play amongst the greenery", explains Maheesha Ratnayake, General Manager of The Farm.
The Farm will be open seven days a week from 7.30am to 11pm, serving breakfast from 7:30 to 11:00, lunch from 12:00 to 18:00 and dinner from 18:00 to 23:00, and a delivery service will operate daily from 7:30 to 23:00.
Local businessman and CEO of Dubai's luxury eco-conscious Al Barari development, Mohammed Zaal, has welcomed the recently unveiled government initiative, 'A Green Economy for Sustainable Development' with great enthusiasm, calling it "a fundamental step in ensuring a bright and sustainable future for the country".
Founded in 2005 by Emirati visionary, Mr. Zaal Mohammed Zaal and his family, Al Barari is the first environmentally sustainable residential development of its kind in the Middle East, which offers customers both the opportunity to purchase high-end residences in a private location and to invest in the local environment. "We are very excited about this initiative to improve environmental legislation and raise awareness of how businesses in the UAE can lessen the impact they have on our country's environment, and also actively adopt environmental best practice in everyday operations" said Al Barari CEO, Mohammed Zaal.
He continued: "Whilst we aim to ensure the day to day operations at Al Barari are both sustainable and economical, we are always looking to find new ways to lessen any impact that our operations might have on the environment. "Our development is made up of 80 per cent green space, which makes Al Barari one of the lowest density developments in the region, however maintaining this space certainly requires resources and of course, water. Our water management systems incorporate a wide spectrum of applications that combined, ensure that water is used as carefully as possible."
The Al Barari water management systems include smart irrigation structures used in gardens to ensure plants are not over-watered, an on-site reverse osmosis plant that produces Class A water for irrigation and pollution traps to prevent ground contaminants and litter. Finally, water run-off from the villa roof tops is collected in drainage trenches and 'soakaways' to help replenish ground water reserves. In addition to the smart usage of water, the Al Barari villas have individual energy-efficiency home systems, and residents are encouraged to recycle through the underground waste system that separates organic from inorganic waste.
Aside from the completion of the Al Barari residential properties in Phase I, the development also contains the region's private green plant nursery, Greenworks, which will be launched to market in the first quarter of 2012. Greenworks will offer plant production and sales, landscape design, landscape construction and landscape maintenance to the local market for large scale landscaping projects in the region.
Greenworks' production nursery spans 18 hectares and produces its own trees and plants from young to raise stronger and healthy specimens. Utilising the best production facilities ensures the plants are grown to international standards and acclimatise more effectively to UAE conditions.
Sustainability and environmental impact is also of huge importance to the team at Greenworks. Henry Raven, General Manager at Greenworks said: "We have started looking at plant varieties that use less water in view of sustainability. We are also in the final stages of developing our green waste processing facility, that will supply quality organic compost back to Al Barari to ensure less fertilizers and water are used."
